Enter Guy and Girl. They are in early 20s. The guy looks somewhat geeky and the girl looks somewhat gothy. Neither is attractive. They sit on a couch together. He offers her some popcorn and they eat quietly and nervously. They eat popcorn throughout the whole scene.<\/em><\/p>\n

Guy:
\nSo, now that we’re alone I wanted to, uh, talk about something.<\/p>\n

Girl:
\nWhat?<\/p>\n

Guy:
\nWe don’t have to if you don’t want to.<\/p>\n

Girl:
\nNo,\u00a0go ahead. There’s something I wanted to say too. You go first.<\/p>\n

Guy:
\nWell, I …<\/p>\n

Girl:
\n… you …? [licks butter off fingers]<\/p>\n

Guy:
\nIt’s difficult for me to say, it’s somewhat awkward… I’m afraid you’ll think I’m weird.<\/p>\n

Girl:
\nListen, you can tell me anything. Anything. We’re friends and I respect you as you are. [Touches his shoulder. Gets butter on it.]<\/p>\n

Guy:
\nOkay, well… I … I really don’t know how to say this. I play roleplaying games.<\/p>\n

Girl:
\n[Eyes wide] You do??!!!! That’s amazing! So do I!<\/p>\n

Guy:
\nYou do???<\/p>\n

Girl:\u2028Yes! For years!!!<\/p>\n

Guy:
\nOh, well that’s amazing! Girls aren’t usually into them.<\/p>\n

Girl:
\nWell, some girls are kind of boring. So are you a dom, or a sub?<\/p>\n

Guy:
\nI DM a lot, but sometimes I’m just a regular player.<\/p>\n

Girl:
\nDM?<\/p>\n

Guy:
\nYou know, a dungeonmaster.<\/p>\n

Girl:
\n[Incredulous] You??? All this time I thought you were kind of timid.<\/p>\n

Guy:
\nWell, I’m sometimes nervous in front of everyone. It’s like you have to perform.<\/p>\n

Girl:
\nWoah, I’ve never been with a dungeonmaster before! How many people do you dom for?<\/p>\n

Guy:
\nWe have a group that meets every week or so.<\/p>\n

Girl:
\nSorry, this is totally blowing my mind. I had NO idea you were like this.<\/p>\n

Guy:
\nWell, me too. I had no idea you would like it either.<\/p>\n

Girl:
\nCan I come to the next one??? Please please please???<\/p>\n

Guy:
\nWell, we’re having something here tonight at 8… I think I could convince my friends to let you in.<\/p>\n

Girl:
\nYou’re so amazing! I’ll be here!!! I love that stuff. The costumes, the…<\/p>\n

Guy:
\nOh, we don’t wear costumes, it’s not like THAT. We don’t go overboard.<\/p>\n

Girl:
\nThat’s kinda lame. What do you wear?<\/p>\n

Guy:
\nLike normal clothes. Only…<\/p>\n

Girl:
\nWell I think it’s lame not to wear costumes. Who wants to wear jeans and stuff?<\/p>\n

Guy:
\nOh you like costumes?<\/p>\n

Girl:
\nUh, yeah! Costumes are a total TURN ON. [Looks at guy seductively and touches his chest. She gets butter on it.]<\/p>\n

Guy:
\nI’ve got some chain mail from an old knight’s costume I wore at Hallowe’en. I could wear that. And I have a cloak.<\/p>\n

Girl:
\nThis is so sexy, you are so hot. My very own dungeonmaster…<\/p>\n

Guy:
\nReally???<\/p>\n

Girl:
\nTo think… [pauses, looks at Guy]<\/p>\n

Guy:
\nWhat?<\/p>\n

Girl:
\n[Girl gets up.] Nothing, just be ready for tonight! I’m going home to get my costume. I’ll even wear it under my coat and walk here with it on.<\/p>\n

Guy:
\nI’m gonna call my friends! They’ll be in costume too!<\/p>\n

Girl:
\nSee you at 8! Prepare for my grand entrance!<\/p>\n
